Dear Gloria and family, Dick and I plus family are sending you very much love at this time of loss. We think of you often, and, indeed the entire family, as wonderful people and skilled sports participants!!! Buddy clearly was only one of a kind, and we shall always remember happy interactions with both him and you. Please let us know if we can be of help somehow. Son John alerted us to this great loss just today. May God bless each of you, as you reflect on your marvelous lives together.

To Gloria and Family, It has been a privilege to have known Buddy and all of you. Buddy was an inspiration in sailing and business. His approach to both was masterful and always with victory in mind. We send our condolences from Gull Lake Michigan where Buddy and family will be forever remembered for fine starts and great finishes and where you will always be welcomed on our shores and race courses. We are certain as Buddy enters the Pearly Gates he will round up past the most windward one as he earns his greatest honor. May he Rest In Peace. Don and Ann Parfet Richland, Michigan

Dear Hans and entire Melges family, it is with gratitude I have been reading the tributes to Buddy. What a grand man in so many ways. Your obituary was beautiful especially when you try to sum up 93 years of achievements in a few paragraphs. You all must be so proud to have the last name of Melges, a name recognized world wide. We will all miss Buddy but always remember his spirit. For all of us his legacy lives on in our hearts and minds and he will always be a big part of Lake Geneva history. God bless Buddy and the Melges family, sincerely Tom and Barb Kwiatkowski

It was a pleasure to meet you when we bought our house in the neighborhood. Both our love for dogs created our introduction to each other.... Sail freely my friend!

Gloria, I treasure the times that I shared with you both in Perth as, well as Lake Geneva. It was a great honor to spend time with my Mother Ruth, her sister Lucy and Buddy’s Mom, Louise. I could see where Buddy got his sense of humour…. I wish you and yours peace, love and grace. Best, Wendy Winzeler
