My Earliest Memories – My ealiest memories of my Aunt “VIrg” as we lovingly referred to her, go back when I was only 5 years old. My grandmother, Victoria, passed away and my mother, Charlotte, took my brother Robert and I for an early morning cab ride to grandmother’s home. I knew something was not right even at that early age. My Aunt Virg took me by the hand to her upstairs “Flat” above Grandma’s residence, and lovingly fed me a breakfast of fresh toast and creamery butter. We had a special relationship from that day forward. I will always remember her kind smile, lovely disposition and her patient demeanor amidst the tensions of the Mankowskis, the Derdzinskis and the Radochonskis.
