Walter Harold Kupp, age 89 of Plano, IL, passed away on Monday, November 17, 2014 at Pine Acres Rehabilitation and Living Center in DeKalb, IL. He was born on June 21, 1925 in Columbus, NE, the son of Gotlieb and Blanche (Blumenstien) Kupp.
Walter was united in marriage on March 9, 1946 in Chicago, IL to Winifred B. Brooks and they spent the next 56 happy years together until her passing in 2003. Mr. Kupp attended St. Mary Catholic Church in Plano, IL. He served his country proudly as a member of the United States Navy during WWII. Walter enjoyed spending time watching sports on television with his family and friends. He was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle who will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his six sons, Michael (Linda) Kupp of Geneva, IL, Terrence (Sue) Kupp of St. Charles, IL, Dennis Kupp of Sandwich, IL, Timothy (Diane) Kupp of Plano, IL, James Kupp of CA, and John (Vickie) Kupp of Courtland, IL; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren; and sister, Martha Peterson of Genoa, NE; as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gotlieb and Blanche Kupp; his wife, Winifred Kupp; his daughter-in-law, Lana Kupp; a great-granddaughter; and two brothers, Albert and Otto Kupp.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, November 21, 2014 at the Larson-Nelson Funeral Home, 1010 W. South St., Plano, IL. Interment will follow in the St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery, Bristol, IL.
Friends may visit from 9:00 AM until the Hour of Service on Friday, November 21, 2014 at the Larson-Nelson Funeral Home in Plano, IL.
