Tom Vanik, 43, Sugar Grove, IL passed away in his home on February 19th 2023.
A celebration of life will be from 4pm to 7pm on Saturday February 25 at Nelson Funeral Home:
1617 N. Bridge St. Yorkville, IL 60506.
Tom Vanik was born in Hinsdale, IL on March 8th 1979. He spent his early years living in
Westmont, IL. At the age of 8 years old, he moved to the Village of Lombard. He graduated from
Willowbrook High School in 1997.
Tom strived for the American Dream, he married Stephanie Vanik on February 20th 1999 at the
First Congregational Church of Western Springs. Together, they raised four amazing children,
guiding them with love, pride and discipline. Tom and Stephanie moved to the small town of
Sugar Grove, IL in 2004. Tom immersed himself in the Kaneland community, mentoring the lives
of young athletes through the sports of wrestling and baseball over 18 years. He was proud to
be a Knight. He made it clear that his door was always open to our community and that his
home was a safe space to speak openly about anything. If you had a question, he had an
answer. If you needed to vent, he lent an ear.
Tom also had a particularly great taste in music, one that he shared with his family. Between the
concerts, Cubs games, camping trips and beach vacations, Tom was clearly a man that lived life
for all it had to offer.
Tom had established a 20-year career in logistics; starting from the bottom as a package
handler, he worked tirelessly to earn the position of Operations Manager with Rebelution
eCommerce.
Tom Vanik is survived by his wife: Stephanie Vanik; his sons: Tom Price (25), Riley Vanik (23),
Caden Vanik (16); and his daughter Marissa Vanik (21). Tom is preceded in death by his brother,
James Hess and his loyal furry companion, Autumn Vanik.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
