Richard Eilert Herrmann

Richard Eilert Herrmann, passed away on Friday, September 20, 2013 at home in Big Rock, IL surrounded by his loving family after a long courageous battle with cancer.
He was born on February 2, 1956 in DeKalb, IL to Vernon and Mary (Goken) Herrmann and grew up on a farm near Hinckley in DeKalb County, IL. He was united in marriage to Lisa Beck on October 9, 1977 at St. Mark?s Lutheran Church in Aurora, IL. He especially enjoyed being outdoors and had lived and farmed in the Hinckley ? Big Rock area his entire life. Always taking care of his family was very important to Rich and he will be dearly missed. He is survived by his wife, Lisa, his children, Jarred (Jamie) Herrmann and Andrea (Peter) Kaus. He is also survived by the biggest joy in his life, being Papa to his 3 precious grandchildren, Addison and Zoey Herrmann and Lucas Kaus. His parents, Vernon and Mary Herrmann of Hinckley, IL, his sister Janice (Rob) Collin of DeKalb, IL, his brothers Vernon (Margo) Herrmann of Big Rock, IL and Kevin (Linda) Herrmann of Hinckley, IL; and his in-laws Gary (Deb) Beck, Sue Beck, Jan (Wyn) Wahlgren, Lori (Keith) Bastian, and Kari (Bill) Dunteman and was known as Uncle Richie to many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Joseph and Emma Herrmann and Agnes and Eilert Goken, and his mother-in-law Betty Beck.
Visitation will be at the Nash-Nelson Memorial Chapel, 141 N. Maple St, Hinckley, IL on Tuesday, September 24, 2013 from 3:00 until 8:00 PM. Visitation will also be at St. Mark?s Lutheran Church, 27 S. Edgelawn Dr., Aurora, IL from 10:00 AM until the Time of Service.
Funeral Service will be held at St. Mark?s Lutheran Church, Aurora, IL on Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at 11:00 AM, with Pastor Patricia Geiseman, officiating. Burial will follow in the West Big Rock Cemetery, Big Rock, IL.
