Penny A. Dennin, age 81, of Big Rock, IL passed away at The Pearl of Orchard Valley on Thursday, March 9, 2023. She was born on January 29, 1942 in Aurora, IL the daughter of Robert and Dorothy (Davis) Smith.
Penny was united in marriage to Mr. James M. Dennin on December 17, 1960 and they have spent the next 62 years happily together. Mrs. Dennin was a member of the English Congregational United Church of Christ in Big Rock, IL. Penny was a past Deputy Village Clerk and on the Planning Commission for the Village of Montgomery. She was on a Tuesday night bowling league for many years and developed longtime friendships. Penny enjoyed many hobbies including gardening and crafting. You never saw Penny without a book, as reading was her passion. Penny was a loving wife, mother and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Penny is survived by her husband, James M. Dennin of Big Rock, IL; and her son, Robert (Cheryl) Dennin of Aurora, IL.
She was preceded by her parents, Robert and Dorothy Smith.
A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, March 18, 2023 at the English Congregational United Church of Christ, 301 Rhodes Avenue, Big Rock, Illinois. Interment will be at a later date at Lincoln Memorial Park, Aurora, IL.
Friends may visit from 10:00 AM until the Hour of Service on Saturday, March 18, 2023 at the English Congregational United Church of Christ in Big Rock, IL.
The family would like to thank all of Penny’s care givers, including the staff at Pearl of Orchard Valley and the staff from Precision Hospice of Naperville, IL.
