Mildred A. Johnson

Mildred A. Johnson, age 87, of Newark, IL passed away on Thursday, May 20, 2010 at Walnut Grove Retirement Center in Morris, IL. She was born on November 29, 1922 in Streator, IL the daughter of Louis and Mary (Robb) Walker.

Mildred was united in marriage on April 28, 1945 in Yorkville, IL to Mr. Elmer Howard Johnson and they spent 54 happy years of their lives together until his passing. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and aunt who will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

Mrs. Johnson was a member of the Newark Lutheran Church in Newark, IL. Mildred was also, for many years, a member of the Newark American Legion Auxiliary.

She is survived by her daughter, Janalee (Larry) Hilt of Lisbon, IL; her grandsons, Larry (Melissa) Hilt of Yorkville, IL and Steven (Liberty) Hilt of Millbrook, IL; her great-grandchildren, Megan, Luke, Haley, and Jillian Hilt; her sisters, Carol Lakeman of Oswego, IL, and Kaye (Clarence) Neuenkirchen of Montgomery, IL; as well as several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Lewis and Mary Walker; her husband, E. Howard Johnson; her three brothers; and her two sisters.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, May 24, 2010 at the Larson-Nelson Funeral Home, 410 E. Countryside Pkwy., in Yorkville, IL with Pastor Randy Nelson officiating. Interment will follow in the West Lisbon Cemetery in Lisbon, IL.

Friends may visit from 1:00 until 4:00 PM on Sunday, May 23, 2010 at the Larson-Nelson Funeral Home in Yorkville, IL.
