Maria R. Carrera, age 91 of Plano, IL passed away on Saturday, March 27, 2010 at her home. She was born on January 8, 1919 in Durango, Mexico the daughter of Leandro and Juana (Sauzedo) Navar.
Maria was united in marriage to Mr. Manuel A. Carrera in Mexico and they spent the next 64 happy years of their lives together until his passing on July 28, 2007. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt who will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
Mrs. Carrera was a longtime member of St. Mary?s Catholic Church in Plano, IL.
Maria is survived by her children, Maria (Evaristo) Lucero, Juan De Dios (Olivia) Carrera, Jesus Carrera, Manuel (Teresa) Carrera, Juana (Saul) Martinez, Gloria (Raul) Corral, Armando (Maria) Carrera, and Consuelo (Armando) Lopez; her 31 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, as well as, many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leandro and Juana Navar; her husband, Manuel A. Carrera, a grandson, and her six brothers and three sisters.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, March 30, 2010 at St. Mary?s Catholic Church, 901 N. Center St., in Plano, IL with Father Diego Maximino, M.I.C., officiating. Interment will follow in the St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery in Bristol, IL.
