Lyle E. Hardecopf, age 88 of Yorkville, IL passed away Wednesday, March 30, 2011 at Hillside Rehab & Care Center, Yorkville. He was born November 1, 1922 in Yorkville, the son of Ernest and Evelyn (Bieritz) Hardecopf.
Lyle was united in marriage on March 27, 1949 to Betty Christopherson and they celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary last Sunday. Mr. Hardecopf served his country proudly, during World War II, with the United States Army. He was a long time farmer and employed, for 20 years, as a Machinist with Caterpillar, Inc. Lyle was a lifelong member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Yorkville. He was very active, holding all the offices in the Church, including, President of the Congregation, Treasurer and Sunday School Teacher for 25 years. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle who will be deeply missed by both his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Hardecopf of Yorkville; his children, Janice (James) Jerabek of New Auburn, WI, Michael (Karen) Hardecopf of Yorkville, Diana (Terry) Morganegg of Yorkville, Thomas (Julie) Hardecopf of Marion, IA and William (Diane) Hardecopf of Yorkville; his thirteen grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; his sister, Delores (Dale) Dierzen of Sandwich, IL; also several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his infant son, Steven Hardecopf.
A Funeral Service will be held at 9:30 AM, Saturday, April 2, 2011 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 10104 Immanuel Road, Yorkville, with Pastor Joseph Chu, officiating. Interment will follow in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Yorkville.
Friends may visit from 4:00 until 7:00 PM, Friday, April 1, 2011 at Larson-Nelson Funeral Home, 410 E. Countryside Pkwy, Yorkville.
