Leo Germann

Mr. Leo Joseph Germann, age 83, of Aurora, IL passed away on Friday, January 13, 2012 at his home, after an 18 year battle with cancer. He was born on February 6, 1928 in Pontiac, MI the son of Leo Joseph and Vivian (Ballou) Germann.
Leo served his country proudly 3 times, first with the Merchant Marines and later with the United States Navy during both World War II and the Korean War. Mr. Germann was united in marriage on July 26, 1969 in Aurora, IL to the former LuAnne Roth Lusk, and they spent the next 42 happy years together. He was formerly employed, for 27 years, as a Tool and Die Maker by Caterpillar Inc. in Montgomery, IL. Leo was a true nature lover who enjoyed vegetable gardening and driving his yard tractor. He also enjoyed watching the Chicago Bears on TV. He and his wife, LuAnne, enjoyed traveling to Florida and taking long Sunday drives. In years past, Leo was an avid fisherman, bowler, bow hunter and wood worker. Leo was a loving husband.
Leo is survived by his wife, LuAnne Germann of Aurora, IL; his son, Marty Germann of Bristol, IL; his step-children, Joe Lusk, Bob Lusk and Linda (Doug) Martin, all of Aurora, IL; his eight step-grandchildren, Bobby, Jr., Jeffrey, Carl, Jacob and Ryan Lusk, Derek, Jason and Melissa Martin; and his step-great-grandson, Ethan Lusk.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo Germann and Vivian Becker.
The Germann family would like to thank Provena Hospice and his caregiver, Kat, for the wonderful care given to Leo.
Interment will be private.
