June Elizabeth Thomas

June Elizabeth Thomas, age 96 of Batavia, IL passed away on Saturday, April 8, 2023 with
her family nearby.

She was born on May 29, 1926 in Aurora, IL the daughter of Ernest “Mick” and Anna Mae (Richards) Lash. June was united in marriage to Mr. William “Bill” Thomas on August 26, 1950 and they spent nearly 62 years happily together until his passing in August 20, 2012.

Her faith in Christ was quiet and steadfast. June was valedictorian of Big Rock High School Class of 1944. She was formerly employed by AllSteel in Aurora, IL, the Fruit Juice House, and Furnace Electric in Batavia and Swanson’s Hardware all in Aurora, IL. June was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend who will be deeply missed by her family and many friends.

June is survived by her sons, Jerry (Sallie) Thomas of Batavia, IL, and Dale (Linda) Thomas of Tremont, IL; her grandchildren, Sarah (John) Gilmore of Geneva, IL, Rachel
(Johnny) Nast of Zionsville, IN, Anna Thomas of Batavia, IL, Matthew (Laura) Thomas of
Johnson City, TN, and Leah Thomas of St. Paul, MN; as well as her eleven
great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Anna Mae Lash; her husband, Bill Thomas; and her brother and sister-in-law, Elton and Ruth Lash.

A Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 PM on Thursday, April 13, 2023 at the Nash-Nelson Memorial Chapel, 141 N. Maple Street, Hinckley, IL.

Friends may visit from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Wednesday, April 12, 2023 at the Nash-Nelson Memorial Chapel in Hinckley, IL.

In lieu of flowers memorials in June’s name may be directed to the Big Rock Historical Society – Building Fund.
