John W. Graham

John W. Graham, age 90 of Hinckley, IL passed away on Saturday, October 25, 2014 at Valley West Hospital in Sandwich, IL. He was born on June 24, 1924 in Chicago, IL the son of John W. and Thelma (Allen) Graham.

John was united in marriage on June 2, 1949 to Miss Virginia Marvin and they spent the next 28 happy years together until her passing on May 22, 1977. Mr. Graham proudly served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps during World War II. He was employed for many years as a Teacher at West Aurora High School in Aurora, IL until his retirement in 1985. John enjoyed spending time fishing and riding in his pontoon boat at his cabin in Hayward, WI. He was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather, brother and uncle who will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

John is survived by his daughters, Kathleen (William) Rigdon of Central, UT and Cheryl (Joe) Apodaca of Hinckley, IL; his six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; his sister, Virginia Allen of Anderson, IN; his daughter-in-law, Shirley (Rich) Suddoth of North Aurora, IL; also a niece, Sharon Chastain.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Virginia Graham; his two sons, Donn Graham and John Graham; and one brother, Franklin Lee Graham.

A Celebration of John’s Life will be held at a later date.

Interment will take place at a later date in the Arlington Cemetery in Elmwood, IL.
