John Bates Armbruster, 65, of Yorkville, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, June 16, 2014. He was born on May 1, 1949 in Aurora, the son of Karl and Jimi (Bates) Armbruster.

John Bates Armbruster, 65, of Yorkville, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, June 16, 2014. He was born on May 1, 1949 in Aurora, the son of Karl and Jimi (Bates) Armbruster.
John grew up in Aurora and was a graduate of West Aurora High School in 1967. Active in scouting, he attained the rank of Eagle Scout. He attended Bradley University in Peoria, IL. Known to many as Buster, he was a founder of ATMI Precast in Aurora. John was a former owner of J.H. Armbruster & Co., manufacturers of concrete block and Wilbert burial vaults. John was a role model and a mentor to those with whom he worked and was highly respected within the industry.
John married Lynn (Smock) Armbruster on October 14, 1978 in Boulder, CO and they shared more than 35 years of happiness in Yorkville. He was a man who loved his family dearly, his many friends, his job, anything to do with cars, and his dogs.
John is survived by his wife, Lynn (Smock) Armbruster; two daughters, Kate Armbruster of Sugar Grove, IL; Anne (Dave) Armbruster Tamkin of Boulder, CO; brother, Jim (Lynn) Armbruster; and seven nieces and nephews; Stevie Armbruster; Abbie Armbruster; Jake Armbruster; Kristian (Mira) Smock; Margaret Smock; Andrew Smock; and J Kimberly Thomas.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two nephews, Nathan Armbruster; and Dayton Thomas.
The visitation will be held on Friday, June 20, 2014 from 4:00 – 8:00 PM at the Larson-Nelson Funeral Home, 410 E Countryside Parkway in Yorkville. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, June 21, 2014 at the Larson-Nelson Funeral Home in Yorkville with internment immediately following at Riverside Cemetery in Montgomery.
