Jo Ann Smith

Jo Ann Smith, age 69, of Sandwich, IL, formally of Big Rock, IL, passed away at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield, IL on Sunday, August 7, 2022.  She was born on August 9, 1952 in Moline, IL, the daughter of Gale and Alta (Foster) Rusk.

Jo was united in marriage to Mr. Keith Smith on November 22, 1975, and they spent the next 46 years happily together. She was employed for 25 years by Walmart in several different service departments until her retirement. Jo was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt who will be deeply missed by her family and many friends. She was a remarkable woman who left an impact on everyone she encountered.

Jo is survived by her husband, Keith Smith of Sandwich, IL; her children, Gale (Rhianna) Smith of Anderson, IN, Dreanna (Tom Burke) Smith of Sycamore, IL, and Cashton (Alissa) Smith of Earlville, IL; her five grandchildren, Gunnar, Julian, Donevyn, Cody and Ashlyn; her brother, Rex Rusk; and her sisters, Brenda (Guy) Barber, Hazel Williams, Frances Laktas and Wilma Connally.

She was preceded in death by her parents as well as her siblings, Robert Rusk, Jerry Rusk, Earl Rusk, Arnold Rusk, Pebbles Collis, and Gayla Rusk.

A Funeral Service for Jo will be held at 4:00 PM on Saturday, August 13, 2022 at the Nelson Funeral Home, 1275 S. Countyline Road, Sandwich, IL.

Friends may visit from 1:00 PM until the hour of Service on Saturday, August 13, 2022 at the Nelson Funeral Home in Sandwich, IL.
