Jay R. McCoy

Jay R. , 61, Yorkville, IL passed away at his home, Monday, October 3, 2011 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born November 3, 1949 Joliet, the son of Robert E. and Patsy (Johnson) McCoy.
Jay was united in marriage to Barbara Hughes on May 1, 1971 and they spent the next 40 happy years of their lives together. He was a 1967 graduate of Newark High School and later attended both Joliet Junior College and Northern Illinois University. Jay served his country proudly in the United States Marine Corp during the War in Vietnam. Jay was employed for many years at L. J. Dodd Construction. He was a member of Cross Lutheran Church, Yorkville. Jay was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle who will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
Jay is survived by his wife, Barb, of Yorkville; daughters, Jennifer (Mathew) Shugrue, Sheridan and Jill (Caleb) Baer, Wheaton; grandchildren, Benjamin, Timothy and Rebekah Shugrue, Emma and Isaac Baer; his father, Robert E. McCoy, Minooka; his brothers, Allen, Steve (Lelia), Brad and Brian McCoy; as well as several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Patsy McCoy; his maternal grandparents, Einard Johnson and Zella Woodhouse; his paternal grandparents, Edwin and Emily McCoy; and several aunts and uncles.
