Isabel J "Iz or Izzy" Parrish

Isabel J. Parrish, age 84, of Plano, IL, passed away on Friday, November 21, 2014 at the Prairie Crossing Living and Rehabilitation Center in Shabbona, IL. She was born on January 17, 1930 in Sandwich, IL, the daughter of Richard and Nina (Parisot) Dreishmire.

She was a lifelong resident of the area. To her friends and family she was known as Iz or Izzy. She was united in marriage to Robert Parrish on November 1, 1948 and they spent the next 40 happy years together until his passing on August 6, 1989.

Izzy was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 395 in Plano, IL. She had been a member of the Illinois Norsk Rosemalers Association, enjoyed painting and was known for her rosemaling. She had also been a member of the Little Rock Township Cemetery Board. She and her husband Bob owned and operated a local business, Sandwich Iron Foundry, for many years. In her life she bowled in local leagues, golfed, and enjoyed spending time in Las Vegas, NV.

She is survived by one daughter, Polly; two sisters, Charlene Denault of Shabbona, IL and Marcille Voss of Somonauk, IL; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob; her parents, Dick and Nina Dreishmire; and one brother, David Dreishmire.

A Memorial Service will be held at 4:00 PM on Monday, November 24, 2014 at the Larson-Nelson Funeral Home, 1010 W. South St., Plano, IL. Interment will be private.

Friends may visit from 2:00 PM until the Hour of Service on Monday, November 24, 2014 at the Larson-Nelson Funeral Home in Plano, IL.

Memorials in loving memory of Izzy may be directed to a charity of the donor’s choice.
