Ilse I. Kosinski

Ilse I. Kosinski, age 97 of Somonauk, IL formerly of Villa Park, IL passed away on Thursday, July 27, 2023 at Rush-Copley Medical Center in Aurora, IL. She was born November 17, 1925 to Richard and Lucie Rueger.

Ilse was born and raised in Germany. She met the love of her life in Germany during WWII, an American soldier, John Kosinski . They both moved back to the United States where Ilse became an American Citizen and married. They were united in marriage in 1952 and had a wonderful 67 years together building their forever home and settling in Lake Holiday, Somonauk, IL.

Ilse enjoyed being a wife and mother, but also loved to garden, take care of the birds, flowers and boating.

Ilse and John attended mass together on Saturday evenings at St. Johns Catholic Church in Somonauk. Ilse was also a member of the garden club in Lake Holiday. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother who will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Ilse had many family and friends who called as far away as Germany and also visited her. She had two wonderful caregivers and considered them both to be loving friends. Julie (Dan) Tasharski was both John and Ilses’ CNA caregiver for the past 5 years and MaryJane Haase (Tom) who has been with Ilse the last 4 years. She will be greatly missed by both of them.

Ilse is survived by her son, Michael (Debra) Kosinski of Villa Park, IL and grandchildren, Erik Kosinski, Richard (Tara) Cardosi with their grandson Calum and Jeremiah Cardosi.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Lucie Rueger; her beloved husband, John Joseph Kosinski and daughter, Rose Marie Kosinski.

A Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 5, 2023 at the Nelson Funeral Home, 1275 South County Line Road, Sandwich, IL from 1:00 PM until 4:00 PM with Funeral Services at 4:00 PM. Interment will be private.
