Gregg Allen Gabel

Gregg Allen Gabel, age 68, of South Elgin, IL passed away on Sunday, July 27, 2014 at his home. He was born on April 16, 1946 in Aurora, IL the son of Clyde and Vivian (Garland) Gabel.

Gregg was a graduate of Yorkville High School in Yorkville, IL. He graduated from Carthage College in Wisconsin and obtained his Master’s Degree from Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, IL. Gregg worked for many years as a Land Planner until his retirement.

Gregg loved spending time with his grandchildren. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially golfing and gardening. Gregg was an avid traveler and also enjoyed painting.

He is survived by his children, Michael Gabel of Plano, IL, Martin (Jenny) Gabel of Aurora, IL, Tim (Julie) Gabel of Elgin, IL, and Sarah (Ryan) Lewis of DeKalb, IL; his grandchildren, Jonathan Gabel, Caleb, Ayden, and Leah Lewis, Abby Hogan and Dylan Gabel, and Emma Gabel; his brothers, Glenn Gabel of Sandwich, IL and Garry Gabel of Oswego, IL; his sisters, Janis (Michael) Mann of Florida, and Jessica (Robert) Frieders of Yorkville, IL; as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Vivian Gabel.

A memorial service will be held at 8:00 PM on Thursday, July 31, 2014 at the Larson-Nelson Funeral Home, 1617 N. Bridge St. (Rt. 47), Yorkville, IL. Interment will be private.

Friends may visit from 4:00 until 8:00 PM on Thursday, July 31, 2014 at the Larson-Nelson Funeral Home in Yorkville, IL.
