Grady A Sawyer

Grady A. Sawyer, age 87, of Fredericktown, MO, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at his daughter’s home in Aurora, IL. He was born on November 6, 1926 in Centerville, TN, the son of Eli N. and Mandy Lou (Scott) Sawyer.

Grady was united in marriage on March 6, 1948 to Juanita Chloe Evans in Piggot, AR and they spent the next 66 happy years together. He was a long time member of the Church of Christ in Farmington, MO. A lifelong farmer and lover of all of God’s creatures, Grady lived a full life doing exactly what he loved…and the world was a better place for having him in it. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather, brother and uncle who will be deeply missed by his family.

He is survived by his wife, Juanita  Sawyer of Fredericktown, MO;  his five children, Jack (Judy) Sawyer of Moline, IL, JoAnn (Ken) Neidel of Wheatland, MO, Betty (Cliff) Phillips of Aurora, IL, Gary Sawyer (Gordy Carroll) of Aurora, IL, and Tom (Pam) Sawyer of Fredericktown, MO; his brother, Harice (Cleola) Sawyer of Doniphan, MO; his four sisters, Grace Sawyer of Pasadena, MD; Marie Hensley of West Plains, MO, Lou Wilson of Risco, MO, and Betty (E.J.) Gwaltney of Halls, TN; his 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren and dozens of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Eli N. and Mandy Lou Sawyer; a granddaughter, Mandy Sawyer; and his great-granddaughter, Katie Buster.

A Private Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
