Gordon Robert Swanson

Gordon Robert Swanson, age 78, of Yorkville, IL passed away on Thursday, May 20, 2010 at his home. He was born on May 12, 1932 in Chicago, IL.
Mr. Swanson was a 1950 graduate of Downers Grove High School, and later attended Northwestern University. He served his country proudly in the United States Army. He and his wife, Marcia, were united in marriage on July 5, 1975.
Mr. Swanson was the President and Owner of Ace Metal Refinishers, Inc. in Naperville, IL which he founded at the age of seventeen. He was a long time member of the Chicago Executives Association, the Illinois Athletic Club, and the Building Owners and Management Association. He was a member of the Butterfield Country Club and Butler National Golf Club. He served on the Naperville District 203 Elementary Board of Education. Mr. Swanson was a land developer in both Naperville, IL and Yorkville, IL. He was the former Vice President of Swanson Environmental Consultants in Chicago, IL and Detroit, MI, and the President and Owner of Talamod Farm, Inc. in Bristol, IL. He was an avid sportsman, and enjoyed deep sea fishing, hunting, and golf.
He was the beloved husband of Marcia (Rynbrand) Swanson, the caring father of Elizabeth Elkerton, Sheila (William) Doscas, William Earnest, Gail Stocchero, Andrea Clark, Carla (Mario) Giovannini, Douglas (Michele) Earnest, David (Stacey) Earnest, and Eric (Paula) Swanson, and the loving grandfather of twenty seven grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. He is survived by his sister, Norma (Eugene) Benham and brother, Jon (Mary) Swanson, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Dr. Gordon Rudolph Swanson and his mother, Bessie Gene (Baker) Swanson, his granddaughter, Jamison Anne Elkerton and his grandson, Gordon Ryan Swanson.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, May 26, 2010 at the Larson-Nelson Funeral Home, 410 E. Countryside Pkwy, in Yorkville, IL. Interment will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Bristol, IL.
Friends may visit from 6:00 until 9:00 PM on Tuesday, May 25, 2010 at the Larson-Nelson Funeral Home in Yorkville, IL.
