Gladys Nelson, age 91, of Montgomery, Illinois passed away on Sunday, January 29, 2023. She was born on January 5, 1932 in Superior, Wisconsin, the daughter of Joseph and Claire (Mode) Lemier.
Gladys was united in marriage on November 24, 1973 to Lloyd E. Nelson and they spent the next 27 years happily together until his passing on January 15, 2001. Mrs. Nelson was an assembly worker with a local manufacturing company. She was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Montgomery, Illinois. Gladys was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by her children, Lloyd (Michele) Nelson, Jim (Lou Ann) Nelson, Cindy (Denny) Biggerstaff, Janean (Mike) Felch, Bill (Karen) Nelson, and Roxanne Cazares of Montgomery, IL; her four grandchildren; and her many great-grandchildren.
Gladys was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd E. Nelson; her daughter, Cynthia Elsworth; two grandchildren; also her parents, Joseph and Claire Lemier; five siblings and her brother-in-law, John Carlson.
A Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 PM on Tuesday, February 14, 2023 at Nelson Funeral Home, 1617 North Bridge Street, Yorkville, Illinois. Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery in Yorkville, IL.
Friends may visit from 10:00 AM until the Hour of Service on Tuesday, February 14, 2023, at the Nelson Funeral Home in Yorkville, IL.
