Gilbert Buttels

Gilbert Buttels, age 76 of Sandwich, IL passed away on Tuesday, January 31, 2023 at Northwestern Medicine Delnor Hospital in Geneva, IL.  He was born on July 22, 1946, the son of Fred and Doris (Potter) Buttels.

Gilbert was united in marriage on April 17, 1986 to Irma Sanchez and they spent the next 36 years happily together.  Mr. Buttels was a machinist for a manufacturing company.  Gilbert was a Sandwich High School graduate and played basketball in his younger days.  He was an avid sports fan. Gilbert was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather who will be deeply missed by his family and many friends.

Gilbert is survived by his wife, Irma Buttels of Sandwich, IL; his children, Lisa (Glen) Falk of Green Bay, WI, Gil Jason Buttels of Morris, IL, Jaqueline Buttels of Sandwich, IL, Gil (Paige) Buttels of Yorkville, IL; twelve grandchildren with one on the way; and his two great-grandsons.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Doris Buttels; and his sister, Lynda Schafer.

A Funeral Service will be held at 4:00 PM on Saturday, February 4 , 2023 at Nelson Funeral Home, 1010 West South Street, Plano, IL. Interment will be held at 12:00 PM on Monday, February 6, 2023 in Oak Ridge Cemetery in Sandwich, IL.

Friends may visit from 1:00 PM until the Hour of Service on Saturday, February 4, 2023, at the Nelson Funeral Home in Plano, IL.
