George A. Wolf, age 87, of Oswego, IL passed away on Sunday, September 12, 2010 at Rush-Copley Medical Center in Aurora, IL. He was born on October 12, 1922 in Streator, IL the son of William and Lula (Wright) Wolf.
George was united in marriage on August 30, 1958 to the former Margaret Mattox and they spent the next 52 happy years together. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and brother who will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
Mr. Wolf lived and worked for many years in Rockford, IL and in the Oswego and Yorkville area. George served his country proudly as a signalman, first class, with the United States Navy during World War II. Mr. Wolf was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church in Oswego, IL. He was a member of St. Anne Seniors, The Knights of Columbus, and the VFW. George had a pilot?s license and until the last few years did some flying in the Rockford area. He also was at one time a very happy golfer.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret ?Peggy? Wolf of Oswego, IL; his daughters, Georgia Wolf of Centennial, CO and Patti (Donald) Smith of Machesney Park, IL; his grandsons, Michael (Melissa Dummer) Emmerling and Thomas (Lisa) Emmerling; and his great grandchildren, Mackenzie and Merek Emmerling, all of Rockford, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Lula Wolf; his brother, Clyde Wolf and his sister, Evelyn Barr, both of California.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, September 16, 2010 at St. Anne Catholic Church, 551 Boulder Hill Pass, Oswego, IL. Interment will take place in St. Patrick?s Catholic Cemetery in Rochelle, IL.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Anne Catholic Church Construction Fund or to a charity of one?s choice.
