Gene Arthur White

Gene Arthur White, age 63 of Yorkville, IL passed away on Friday, June 8, 2012 at his home. He was born on June 12, 1948 in Elmhurst, IL the son of Carl Eugene and Betty (Toms) White, Jr.
Mr. White served his country proudly with the United States Navy as a Corpsman during the war in Vietnam. Gene was united in marriage on December 5, 1970 in Yorkville, IL to the former Miss Lynne Pantke and they spent the next 41 happy years of their lives together. He attended the Yorkville Congregational, United Church of Christ. Mr. White was employed for several years by the Illinois Department of Transportation. Gene was a lifetime member of the Yorkville American Legion Post #489, the VFW, and the Disabled American Veterans. At this time, Gene was serving as the President of the Veterans Assistance Commission of Kendall County. He was a member of the Kendall Masonic Lodge #471, A.F. & A.M., the Scottish Rite Valley of Chicago, the Aurora York Rite, and the Medinah Shriners. He was also a member of the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association, the Yorkville Legion Riders Post #489, and the Starved Rock Harley Davidson Motorcycle Association, as well as, the Yorkville Moose Lodge. Gene served on the Board of Trustees of Kendall Township. He was also a former Scout Master of Boy Scout Troop #40. He was an avid team player and former manager for the Yorkville American Legion fast and slow pitch softball teams and a die-hard Chicago Cubs Fan. Gene was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and uncle who will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Lynne White of Yorkville, IL; his children, Aaron (Kim) White of Streamwood, IL, Sarah (Craig) Pottinger of Newark, IL, and Nathan White of Yorkville, IL; his grandchildren, Sadie and Cayla Pottinger and Connor White; his mother, Betty White of Sandwich, IL; his sisters, Beverly (Neil) Borneman of Yorkville, IL, Sue Ellen (Donald) FitzGibbon of Iowa City, IA, Audrey (Brad) Huggins of Sugar Grove, IL, and Carole (Lyle) Austin of Iowa City, IA; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Gene was preceded in death by his father, Carl Eugene White, Jr.
A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, June 12, 2012 at the Larson-Nelson Funeral Home, 410 E. Countryside Parkway, Yorkville, IL with Pastor Mark Gregory officiating. Interment will follow in the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 143 First Street, Batavia, IL 60510.
Friends may visit from 3:00 until 8:00 PM on Monday, June 11, 2012 with a Masonic Service taking place at 6:00 PM at the Larson-Nelson Funeral Home, Yorkville, IL.
