Frederic Strong

Frederic Strong, 103, of Morris, IL (formerly of Lisle, IL,) passed away on June 22, at Loyola Medical Center. He was born in Chicago to Ashur C. and Ilia (Nielsen) Strong.
Frederic married Millicent Dozier on May 28, 1932 in Crown Point, IN and they spent many happy years together until her passing in 1972. He then married Alice Burns Ford in 1973. She also preceded him in death.
Frederic spent several years working at Continental and First National Banks in Chicago prior to doing maintenance work at Kropp Forge in Chicago and Packard Instrument of Downers Grove. He retired from Packard Instrument in May, 1974 and shortly thereafter moved to Arkansas. In his early years, Fred enjoyed taking flying lessons at the Curtis-Wright Flying school.
He is survived by his son, Paul (Josie) Strong of Yorkville, two granddaughters, Sally Strong of Bartlett and Ellen (Ray) Miller-Buchanan of Newark, a great-grandson, Jeremiah Miller, a great granddaughter, Kristen Miller and two step great-grandsons, Ray and Josh Buchanan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ashur and Ilia Strong, his first wife, Millicient Dozier Strong, his second wife, Alice Burns Ford Strong, his good friend, Janet Champagne, two half brothers, Buryl and Webster Strong and a daughter, Susan, in infancy.
Friends may visit from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 2, 2014 at the Larson-Nelson Funeral Home, 410 E. Countryside Parkway, Yorkville, IL. A “Celebration of Memories” will be held at Paul and Josie’s home following the visitation. Interment will be private.
