Frances Budd Wormley, age 91, of Oswego, IL passed away on Friday, April 2, 2010 at her home in Century Estates. She was born on June 14, 1918, on the family farm near Millbrook, IL the daughter of Frank and Edna (Darnell) Budd. She married Myron L. Wormley on March 2, 1940, at the Budd home near Millbrook.
Frances’ early formal education was in Millbrook, Yorkville and Plano schools. She attended the University of Illinois earning money for her tuition and board by working as a secretary for the Kendall County Farm Bureau. Knowing that she and Myron would be living on the Wormley family farm near Oswego, Frances secured a prenuptial agreement that she would not be required to raise chickens. In all other aspects of the family livelihood she was a willing and equal partner. Mrs. Wormley was an elder and served on numerous committees at the Oswego Presbyterian Church, where she also was the organist for many years. Frances served on the board of the Aurora YWCA and on the organizing board of what came to be Waubonsee Community College. Mrs. Wormley was a member of PEO, Republican Women, ONO, Eastern Star and the Grove Road Farmers Club. She was an avid bridge player, playing in several clubs, and was a champion of correct spelling and proper use of the English language.
Survivors include her three children, Jim (Cheryl) Wormley of Woodstock, IL, Jean (Paul) Rothfusz of West Des Moines, IA, and Budd Wormley of Yorkville, IL; 11 grandchildren, Ryan (Gwen) Wormley of Woodstock, IL, Paul (Rosemary) Wormley of Winnetka, IL, Matt (Alexis) Wormley of Chicago, IL, Mark (Lydia) Rothfusz of Atlantic, IA, John (Elise) Rothfusz of Washington, IL, Anne (Shawn) Johnson of Des Moines, IA, Mary Rothfusz of Chicago, IL , Adam Wormley of Yorkville, IL, Sara Wormley of Chicago, IL, Seth Wormley of St. Louis, MO and Kendall Wormley of Oswego, IL; 18 great-grandchildren, Cameron, Calvin, J.T. and Reagan Wormley, all of Woodstock, James August and Antonia Wormley, both of Winnetka, IL, John George Wormley of Chicago, IL, Lisa, Andrew, Aaron and Kaitlyn Rothfusz, all of Atlantic, IA, Daniel, David and Anna Rothfusz, all of Washington, IL, Connor, Quinn and Sophia Johnson, all of Des Moines, IA, and Robert Gran of Glenwood, IA; her sister, Ida Duncan of Aledo, IL; and her caregiver and friend, Anna Dobryanska.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Edna Budd; her husband, Myron L. Wormley; and four infant grandsons.
