Emil Joseph Michalek

Emil Joseph Michalek, age 91 of Yorkville, IL formerly of Florida, passed away on Saturday, January 1, 2011 at his home. He was born on June 26, 1919 in Chicago, IL the son of Emil and Mary (Tuma) Michalek.
Emil was united in marriage on November 24, 1949 to the former Miss Libby Novotny and they spent the next 61 happy years together. Mr. Michalek served his country proudly with the United States Navy during the World War II. He was employed, for many years, by Western Electric in Montgomery, IL. Mr. Michalek was a talented carpenter who built several homes in Fox River Gardens, off Tuma Road in Yorkville, IL. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Yorkville, IL. Emil will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor and throughout his life, enjoyed nothing more than having fun. He was a very loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Libby Michalek of Yorkville, IL; his children, Christine (Jim) Brisbin of Yorkville, IL, Marilyn (Tom) McCarthy of Houston, TX, Paul Michalek of Warner Robins, GA and Robert (Theresa) Michalek of West Hennrietta, NY; five grandchildren; as well as, his nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Emil and Mary Michalek; his son, John Michalek; and one grandson.
A Funeral Prayer Service will be held at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at the Larson-Nelson Funeral Home, 410 East Countryside Parkway in Yorkville, IL. Interment is private.
Friends may visit from 4:00 until the Hour of Service on Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at the Funeral Home in Yorkville, IL.
