Dorothy Ann (Erickson) Een

Dorothy Ann (Erickson) Een, age 73 of Minooka, IL passed away on June 16, 2011 in Chicago, IL. She was born September 6, 1937 in Viroqua, WI the daughter of Joseph and Gladys (Melby) Erickson. Dorothy was united in marriage on April 12, 1958 in Minneapolis, MN to Mr. Sheldon Een and they spent the next 51 happy years of their lives together until his passing on August 22, 2009.

Dorothy placed her faith in Christ as a child and had a passion that others would come to know Him too. Dorothy graduated from Hillcrest Academy in Fergus Falls, MN. She served in various church ministries and was a member of Helmar Lutheran Church, Yorkville, IL.

Dorothy and her husband farmed in rural Yorkville for 31 years. Together they owned and operated Artistic Wood Designs.

Dorothy is survived by her sister Pearl (Harold) Peterson of Bella Vista, AR; several nieces and nephews; and Dawn Anderson who was like a daughter to Dorothy.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Sheldon; her daughter Brenda; and 2 brothers, Jay and Delbert Erickson.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, June 20, 2011 at the Helmar Lutheran Church, 11935 Lisbon Rd, Newark, IL with Pastors Dennis Norby, Cal Hiebert, Jim Erickson and Darryl Erickson. Interment will follow in the Helmar Lutheran Cemetery, Newark, IL. Memorials in Dorothy?s name may be directed to Helmar Lutheran Church or ECHO.
