Donald C. Craig, age 77, of Hinckley, IL passed away on Friday, June 12, 2009 at Provena Mercy Center in Aurora, IL as a result of an automobile accident. He was born on July 28, 1931 in Chicago, IL the son of Ralph and Eleanor (Urbaitis) Craig.

Donald C. Craig, age 77, of Hinckley, IL passed away on Friday, June 12, 2009 at Provena Mercy Center in Aurora, IL as a result of an automobile accident. He was born on July 28, 1931 in Chicago, IL the son of Ralph and Eleanor (Urbaitis) Craig.
Don was united in marriage on March 15, 1952 on the Burtonwood Air Force Base in England to the former Phyllis Rose Nuenke and they spent the next 57 happy years of their lives together. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and uncle who will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
Mr. Craig was a very active member of the Hinckley First United Methodist Church in Hinckley, IL. Don served his country proudly as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Air Force. He was formerly an Insurance Broker and Real Estate Agent retiring in 1996. Don enjoyed many activities including playing chess, Sudoku, and doing cross word puzzles. He was an avid reader and loved educated conversation. Don also spent many happy hours camping with his family and friends. He was a member of the American Legion, the Lions Club and was a former Boy Scout Leader. Don was also a Hinckley Public Library Trustee and Treasurer and an AARP 55 Alive Instructor.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Craig of Hinckley, IL; his children, Laura (Jim) Caccia of Cincinnati, Ohio, Mark (Karen) Craig of Montgomery, IL, Maureen (Dennis) Osborne of Huntington Beach, CA, Jennifer (Rich) Reichert of Elmhurst, IL, Ellen (Chris) Thomson of Palatine, IL and Andrew (Kelly) Craig of Clarendon Hills, IL; his grandchildren, David (Kathy) Craig, Christina Craig, Nicholas (Heather) Marquardt, Bill, Ross, and Cassie Reichert, Dana, Bridgett, and Stephanie Thomson, Jeffrey and Russell ?Rusty? Osborne, and Quintin and Cullen Craig; his great-grandchildren, Andrew, Tyler, and Logan Craig, and Levi and Addison Marquardt; and his sister, Joyce Plennert of Palatine, IL; as well as many, many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Eleanor Craig; his son, Jeffrey Craig; his brother, Frank Craig; and his brother-in-law, Joe Plennert.
A Memorial Celebration for Don will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, June 20, 2009 at the Hinckley First United Methodist Church, 801 N. Sycamore, Hinckley, IL with Reverend Michael Mann officiating.
