Devonna “Bonnie” Coffman Thompson, age 89 of Downers Grove, IL passed away on Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at Season’s Hospice in Naperville, IL. She was born on January 6, 1925 in Sandwich, IL the daughter of H. Glenn and Martha (Brooks) Coffman, Sr.
Bonnie graduated from Plano High School, Class of 1943. Following graduation, she moved to Chicago where she was employed for many years by the Railroad Retirement Board. In 1949 she was united in marriage to Mr. Sherman Thompson and they spent 33 happy years together until his passing in 1982. Mrs. Thompson was a longtime member of the United Methodist Church in Downers Grove, IL. Bonnie enjoyed traveling with her family and friends. She was a loving wife, sister and aunt who will be deeply missed by her friends and family.
Bonnie is survived by her sisters, Zada Pekoc of Plano, IL and Neva Cooley of Meadowbrook Manor, Naperville, IL; her brother, Franklin (Elaine) Coffman of Plano, IL; as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, H. Glenn and Martha Coffman, Sr; her husband, Sherman Thompson; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Erwin “Win” (Lois) Coffman and H. Glenn (Maxine) Coffman, Jr.
Services and Interment will be private.
Memorials in Bonnie’s name may be directed to either The Shriners Hospital for Children, 2211 North Oak Park, Avenue, Chicago, IL 60707-3392 or the donor’s choice of charity.
