Dean L. Johnson

Dean Leslie Johnson, age 96 of Singer Island, FL, formerly of Northville Township, LaSalle County passed away on Saturday, December 31, 2022 at Cedarhurst Senior Living in Yorkville, IL. He was born on April 2, 1926 in Waterman, IL the son of Leslie Burton and Joanna (Rohrer) Johnson.

Dean was united in marriage on February 5, 1949 to Eileen E. Rueff.  They spent many happy years together until her passing on February 15, 2012. Dean was a true entrepreneur and was very successful in many areas including farming and real estate. However, his true passions were fishing and traveling with the Oregon Trail group, Cardinal Capers Group and other RV fanatics. The friendships he made on those ventures gave him endless memories, for which his family will be forever grateful. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Dean is survived by his children, David (Vicki) Johnson of Sandwich, IL, Dale A. (Jacqueline) Johnson of Daytona Beach, FL, Dianne (Mikel) Freeman of Chillicothe, IL and Douglas (Susan) Johnson of Yorkville, IL; his 14 grandchildren; also his 21 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leslie and Joanna Johnson and his wife, Eileen E. Johnson.

Funeral Services for Dean will be private. Interment will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery in Sandwich, IL.

Friends may visit from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Thursday, January 5, 2023 at Nelson Funeral Home, 1275 S. Countyline Road, Sandwich, IL.
