Daniel “Dan” Schoenholtz, age 47, of Yorkville, IL, passed away at McNeal Hospital, Berwyn, IL on January 8, 2023 after a 15 year constant battle with cancer and kidney disease. He was born in Elgin, IL on September 20, 1975, the son of Jack and Bette Schoenholtz. He was a graduate of Leyden Township High School, and attended Southern Illinois University and Waubonsee Community College.
Dan came into this world with a joyous personality and remarked to himself at the age of 12, “If I never have another good day, I have had a happy life.” He was a free spirit who loved traveling, attending White Sox and Chicago Bears games, and reading. Cancer, which never went into remission, provided constant suffering which he faced with his “eventually it will be over” attitude.
Dan is survived by his mother, Bette Schoenholtz, father, Jack Schoenholtz, step-mother, Lori Schoenholtz, brother, Matt (Lora) Schoenholtz, nieces, Heaven and Lilah Schoenholtz, and nephews, Davis and Jack Schoenholtz. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Stanley and Marian Davis, and Mervin and Marion Schoenholtz, his uncle Jerry Hogan, and cousin Tom Hogan.
Visitation Services will be held at Nelson Funeral Home, 1617 N. Bridge St., Yorkville, IL www.NelsonFuneralHomes.com at 630-553-7611, on Friday, January 27 from 4-7pm. Mass will be held at 10am on Saturday, January 28 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 406 Walnut St., Yorkville, IL.
