Clara M. Gielow

Clara M. Gielow, age 100, formerly of LaSalle, IL and Sarasota, FL, passed away at Meadowbrook Manor in Naperville, IL on Wednesday, May 17, 2023. She was born on July 27, 1922 in Will County, IL, the daughter of Leno and Anita (Bernardini) Raneri.

Clara was united in marriage on July 5, 1947 to Mr. Francis Gielow and they spent the next 32 years happily together until his passing on October 2, 1979.  Following the loss of her husband, she was blessed to have met Mr. John Kidd and for many years they were loving companions. Mrs. Gielow was employed for many years in the nursing field.  Clara was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, companion, sister, and aunt who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Clara is survived by her children, Kathy (Mark) Eggerdig of River Forest, IL, Joan (William) Knauer of Yorkville, IL; her six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; her longtime companion, John Kidd of Sarasota, FL; as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leno and Anita Raneri; her husband, Francis Gielow; her daughter, Gail March; her two sisters; and her brother.

Friends may visit from 3:00 PM until 6:00 PM on Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at the Nelson Funeral Home, 1617 North Bridge Street, Yorkville, IL. A Funeral Service will be held at 6:00 PM following the Visitation at the Nelson Funeral Home in Yorkville, IL.
