Christian Gerard "Chris" Riviere

Christian (Chris) Gerard Riviere of Delavan, WI passed away on Friday, March 31, 2023 after complications from a recent surgery.

Chris was born to Regine (Peil) and Victor Riviere on November 19, 1950. Chris was born and raised in St. Maur, France and moved to the United States when he was 19 years old. Chris was trained as a pastry chef, first working at his uncle’s bakery in Winnetka, IL, and eventually working at the Playboy Club in Lake Geneva, The Crow’s Nest, and Abbey Springs in Fontana, WI, among other restaurants.

Later in life Chris became an over-the-road truck driver working for Robert Hansen Trucking, Transport America and LME Trucking Company. Chris was a trainer of new truck drivers, became a Safety Director, a Terminal Manager and later the Regional Safety Director for LME Trucking. Chris felt a commitment for making sure truck drivers operated in a safe and responsible manner.

Chris is survived by his wife Margaret (Megan) (Delavan, WI), their children Julien and Collette (Delavan, WI), and his children Andrew and Gabriel (Baraboo, WI), his brother and sisters in France, his in-laws, nieces and nephews both in France and in the United States. He is predeceased by his parents, sister and two brothers, all from France.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date, tentatively in August. This posting will be updated at a later time with those details.

Due to Chris’s love of nature, In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Arbor Day Foundation, specifically the “A Forest in Great Need” project, which focuses on planting trees in areas that have been devastated by wildfires and droughts.
