Brian D. Homerding, age 78 of Minooka, IL passed away on Friday, January 27, 2023 at Edward Hospital in Naperville, IL. He was born on May 17, 1944 in Joliet, IL the son of John and Evelyn (Hassert) Homerding.
Brian was united in marriage on December 22, 1973 to Sharon Mathre and they spent the next nearly 50 years happily together. Mr. Homerding was a member of Cross Lutheran Church in Yorkville, IL. Brian was a true family man, hardworking and determinate. Brian’s passion was his love for family and farm. Always building for the future of the family. After serving in the Air Force, he helped his dad on the farm. In addition, he worked construction framing houses. He carried his experience into the farming operation, building multiple sheds, shops, hog and grain facilities. It was always fun for him to follow the grandchildren’s sports activities. He truly loved teaching and watching the next generation advance in the farming operation. Brian was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and uncle who will be deeply missed by his family and many many friends.
Brian is survived by his wife, Sharon Homerding of Minooka, IL; his sons, Michael Homerding and Jeffrey (Katie) Homerding of Yorkville, IL; his grandchildren Jacob, Max, Grace, Jack, and Haley, all of Yorkville, IL; his sister, Gail (Bob) Bossarte of Boulder, CO; brothers-in-law Mark (Marge) Mathre, and Tom (Linda) Mathre. He is survived by several nieces and nephews; Laura Collins, Lynda (Jim) Schuler, Jennifer (Andy) Bromeland, Tom Mathre Jr., Melissa (Jon) Hageman, Conor Clarke and many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Evelyn (Hassert) Homerding; his daughter, Stephanie Homerding in 2017, brother, John A. Homerding, and niece, Jessica Mathre.
A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, February 4, 2023 at Cross Lutheran Church, 8609 Rt. 47, Yorkville, IL with Pastor Eric Gauss, officiating. Interment will follow in the Cross Lutheran Cemetery in Yorkville, IL.
Friends may visit from 3:00 until 8:00 PM on Friday, February 3, 3023 at the Nelson Funeral Home, 1617 North Bridge Street, Yorkville, IL.
