Barbara Kay Dellenback, M.D.

Barbara Kay Dellenback, M.D., age 83 of Yorkville, IL formerly of Hinckley, IL passed away Tuesday, May 17, 2022 at Hillside Rehab & Care Center in Yorkville, IL.  She was born on October 23, 1938 in Aurora, IL to Ervin and LaVon Dellenback of Hinckley, IL.

Growing up in a small town, her days were filled with sports, gardening and reading.  Barbara loved all God’s animals and if ever a stray pet should cross her path, it would find its forever home with her.

Barbara studied at her beloved University of Illinois and began her family practice in St. Charles, IL.  Barbara practiced medicine for many years. Upon her retirement, she continued honoring her pledge to “do no harm” by co-owning and operating Top Notch Kennels in Oswego, IL.  Her devotion to animals, particularly cats, filled her days with joy.  Most often Barb could be found in her recliner, a cat in her lap, screaming at the television tuned to the U of I basketball game!

Barbara leaves behind a brother, James Dellenback of Sandwich, IL; three nieces, Lori (John) Carey of Sandwich, IL, Jeanne (Doug) Skelton of Perkasie, PA, Karen (Steve) Erhart of Paw Paw, IL; her two nephews, Paul (Becky) Dellenback of Payson, AZ and Steve (Cindy) Dellenback of San Antonio, TX; as well as, 14 great nieces and nephews.

Preceding Barbara in death are her parents, Ervin and LaVon Dellenback; her brother, Charles Dellenback; her sisters-in-law, Gloria Dellenback and Sally Dellenback.

Friends may visit from 10:30 AM until 1:30 PM on Friday, May 20, 2022 at Nash-Nelson Funeral Home, 141 N. Maple Street, Hinckley, IL.

A Graveside Service and Interment will follow at 2:00 PM in Greenwood Cemetery, Hinckley, IL.
